Annual Food and Fund Drive
The days are growing shorter and the holidays are on their way. That can only mean one thing: It’s time for Community FoodBank’s annual Food and Fund drive. 100 barrels are already out in the community, inviting people to pitch in for a healthier San Benito County.
Non-perishable items may be dropped in any barrel, or dropped off at FoodBank at 1133 San Felipe Road Tuesday through Saturday.
Once again this year, Safeway is supporting the effort with a campaign to buy “Hunger Bags.” Shoppers can buy a bag for $10, which buys about $30 worth of groceries. All bags bought through the Hollister store go to Community FoodBank.
Last year’s effort brought in more than 30,000 pounds of food, just in time for the chilly days of winter.
We’re renovating to better serve our community!
After almost 28 years in operation, FoodBank purchased its building last year. The Board of Directors officially approved Avila Construction of Monterey as lead contractor for a major renovation project and update of FoodBank’s headquarters. It’s a re-imagination of what a food bank can be. In fact, it’s a building renovation for service innovation! Come back to this site often, because we’ll be sharing updates as they happen.
