We are experiencing the most exciting chapter in the 28-year history of Community FoodBank. You almost certainly know that in 2016, we purchased the building we had been leasing for a decade. As you read this letter, a construction project is transforming the very idea of what a food bank can be. What’s in the works: a bright, airy, accessible marketplace where people shop for healthy food. Perhaps best of all, it’s already nearly paid for. Our goal is to reopen in a new space debt free. Toward that end, every member of our staff and board of directors has already contributed toward the building fund.
We’re told construction will be completed by early August. Until then, we are inviting FoodBank supporters like you to pay a visit and take a tour. We’re eager to share the vision, and to harvest the good ideas of others. Even as the saws and hammers are swinging, daily operations continue, so it’s important to call first to arrange your visit. As construction nears completion, we also are excited to offer a limited number of special recognition opportunities for supporters to demonstrate their commitment to a healthy, vibrant community. While everyone who helps realize this dream will be recognized, those who are able to make larger gifts can elect to have their companies, causes or loved ones associated with a permanent fixture of FoodBank.
