One of the most rewarding things that happens at Community FoodBank is waiting to see what the market basket holds each week. It’s almost like Christmas morning every single week! In San Benito County, we are privileged to share the best of Central California’s produce every week.
So in addition to lots of fresh, organic greens, we have strawberries, broccoli and a ton — literally — of poblano chiles.
If you’re not familiar with these large, inky green peppers, you should be. They usually are not spicy hot, but instead, hold a deep, complex flavor. They’re perfect for chiles rellenos. Dried, they have a rich, fruity flavor. We never run out of things to do with them!
Community Food Bank’s mission is to provide food, nutritional education and advocacy for our neighbors in need within San Benito County.
