These crisp, organic San Juan Valley apples are about to go out the doors at Community FoodBank, right at the peak of the season. It’s easy to eat locally when the offerings are so delicious.
It’s hard to resist the temptation to just rinse one off and start crunching — and you shouldn’t, but apples are one of the most versatile fruits. Think you don’t like sauerkraut? That’s too bad, because it is full of beneficial probiotics. Try opening a jar, rinsing and draining it, and heating it on low with a diced apple or two. The sweet, tangy result goes great as a relish for meats or on its own.
Community Food Bank’s mission is to provide food, nutritional education and advocacy for our neighbors in need within San Benito County.
