Popeye said it first, but we’re all about yams this week at Community FoodBank — 2,300 pounds of them. Keeping them company is a mountain of enormous white onions, two pallets (2,400 pounds) of green cabbage, brussels sprouts, romaine and iceberg lettuce, jalapenos and 1,000 pounds of radishes.

FoodBank market hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-noon. Community FoodBank is located at 1133 San Felipe Road. Drop by for a visit. Signing up to receive groceries each week takes only a minute or two if you qualify.

Also in this week’s market basket is organic romaine lettuce and lacinato (a.k.a. dinosaur) kale from Coke Farm, along with lots of broccoli, cauliflower and various salad mixes.
