Holiday Food Drive

Autumn is food drive season at the Community Food Bank of San Benito County. You can get involved in helping us fill our shelves—it’s easy and rewarding!

We start the season in mid-September as students return to local schools. Many schools in our area host donation barrels for us through mid-October. This is a great way to remind children to think of others and share, especially as harvest season nears its close and winter and the holidays approach.

Managing the food drive makes a great project for a class or a club. If you’d like your school to participate, just contact us or give us a call at 831-637-0340. We’ll make it as easy as possible by delivering barrels to school and picking them up when they’re full. All you need to do is get in touch with us, then publicize the food drive and brainstorm ways to make the drive successful and fun. Encourage one class to challenge another. Or challenge another school to see who can collect the most food.

After our school food drive, local businesses take over. Banks, utility companies, restaurants and other organizations host barrels; employees and customers join together to fill them.

This holiday food drive runs from about the third week of October until just before Christmas. The event is one important way we ensure local families have enough food for their holiday tables.

Join us in making the holidays a little brighter for families struggling to make ends meet. All donations stay right here in San Benito County, helping our local citizens.

Call us at 831-637-0340 to find out how you can volunteer to help with our food drives or host a food drive yourself, or use our contact form. Cash donations are always very welcome this time of year also. You can donate securely online anytime, or mail to:
