From December 1st through 12th, neighbors can support other neighbors in San Benito County through the 12 Days of Giving holiday campaign. Supporters who donate during the 12 days will have their funds matched by generous local businesses.

Community FoodBank is collaborating with fellow nonprofit organizations to raise awareness and funds about needs that go unmet right here in our county, including CASA of San Benito County, Chamberlain’s Youth Services, Emmaus House, and Sun Street Centers. The issues they address include hunger, children in foster care, domestic violence, and alcohol and drug addiction. Community FoodBank distributes 1,000,000 pounds of food each year and serves children, families, individuals, and seniors—folks in our community who need nutritious supplemental food.

For example, the student snack bags are distributed to schools weekly. They go home with children whose households struggle with having enough income to buy nutritious food for their family. Each bag has healthy snacks to get the kids through the weekend when they don’t have access to school lunches or breakfasts.

The 12 Days of Giving campaign is an opportunity to give back to a local nonprofit this holiday season. Donors can feel good about supporting their community, as well as an efficient nonprofit striving to make our neighborhoods healthier.

In a well-nourished community, children learn better, adults are healthier, healthcare costs go down, and seniors don’t have to choose between food and medicine. Community FoodBank has existed for three decades and is a trusted source for other nonprofit food partners, as well as part of the California Association of Food Banks.

Community FoodBank reaches nearly one in six San Benito County residents. Last year, the 12 Days of Giving campaign raised $150,000 for the five participating organizations and we hope to surpass that goal this year. The more we raise, the more people we can serve this holiday season, and year-round.

To make a gift today, visit the Community FoodBank website and donate online.

Individual donations will be matched, in part, by a pool of funds provided by local organizations and businesses.
