The staff and board of directors at Community FoodBank participated in a two-day retreat and brainstorming session during the week of Jan. 20-25, and the outcome includes a new mission statement that better defines the food bank’s growing mission in San Benito County.

Building dignity.
Sharing abundance.
Nourishing lives.

That’s the new definition of the food bank’s mission in San Benito County, one that sums up a shared desire to provide empowerment and opportunity through food and education.

“Our board and staff dedicated their time off to collaborate creatively with the goal of setting the direction of Community FoodBank,” said Maria Thomas, food bank CEO. “It’s a daily inspiration to work with such a dedicated team.”

Mark Paxton is director of community engagement and fund development at Community FoodBank. In his spare time, he enjoys being outdoors with his wife, Mary. They are the parents of two daughters and live in Hollister.
