And the results are in! Each year for almost three decades, U.S. Postal Service workers have organized the nation’s biggest one-day food drive. On the Saturday before Mother’s Day, carriers collect donated groceries left near mailboxes nationwide.
The best part? Every donation in every town across America stays within its community. In San Benito County, the results were nothing short of breathtaking, smashing all previous campaigns. Hollister carriers brought in 7,159 pounds of food. In San Juan Bautista, the total was 232 pounds. Even Paicines chipped in with 20 pounds.
All of it went to Community FoodBank of San Benito, where it will be returned to the community that takes good care of its own.
It will happen again next year, so be ready!
Community Food Bank’s mission is to provide food, nutritional education and advocacy for our neighbors in need within San Benito County.
